The European coffeehouse…so prevalent, so popular, so common in the nineteenth century Hapsburg Empire cities of Vienna,
Prague and Budapest. You have your table, you have your chair, you have your exact spot at your coffeehouse where you
plan, where you ponder, where you promote the life you begin anew each day. You read the paper, you learn what’s new,
you admire a new visitor whom you muster the courage to invite to your table for a cappuccino.
Your visit to your café isn’t simply a benefit, a treat, a perk…it’s an absolute necessity for your life to move ahead
with quality. It’s as essential as breakfast and lunch… indeed, it is breakfast and lunch. Food for thought, food for
life come to you through your moments in the coffeehouse. The beverages and pastries you enjoy there are secondary to
your just being there.
Café Intermezzo began as an idea in the mind of Brian Olson, predicated upon his experience in, and love for, coffeehouses
in Germany and Austria. Olson’s partner in the opening of the Café, Renate Olson, grew-up in Hamburg, Germany, and spent
many hours in Kaffeehausen. Their wish for a European coffeehouse
for themselves to enjoy promoted the opening of Café Intermezzo in the Atlanta suburb of Dunwoody on
December 3, 1979.

The eventual search for a second location yielded an
excellent old building on Peachtree Road near Midtown Atlanta, which opened on December 29, 1987.
Café Intermezzo, Das Europaeische Kaffeehaus, provides a step back into nineteenth century Vienna. People relax, meet,
rendezvous, read, study, plan, create… everything which took-place at Kolschitsky’s Coffeehouse in Vienna beginning in
1683, and in all of its emulators around the world thereafter (including the famous Lloyd’s of London, and the Café
Centrál in Vienna.)
Café Intermezzo presents over 100 different pastries including tortes, tarts, cakes, pies and
cheesecakes; scores of coffee beverages and other non-alcohol beverages; many hundreds of
beverages with alcohol; and complete, international lunch and dinner menus with
a plethora of offerings. The food menus are replete with small plates, large plates, soups, salads, and sandwiches.
Café Intermezzo now offers Free Wireless Internet! Available everyday at both locations between the hours of 10am and 7pm.
Café Intermezzos are open every day of the year, from morning until late-night.
